Wenn du mitten in der Nacht aufwachst und nicht mehr einschlafen kannst, ist das quälend, zerrt an den Nerven und belastet einfach nur. Habe ich Durchschlafprobleme? Und wenn ja, was soll ich dagegen machen – aufstehen oder liegen bleiben?
In diesem Artikel erkläre ich dir die Ursachen für diese Art von Schlafstörung und welche Tricks dir dabei helfen, doch noch auf dein erforderliches Schlafpensum zu kommen, ohne ein Schlafdefizit aufzubauen.
Vielleicht kennst du das auch: Du schläfst nach einem guten Buch ruhig und friedlich ein, sagen wir um 22:30 Uhr. Doch nach ein paar Stunden Schlaf wachst du mitten in der Nacht zwischen 02:00 Uhr und 04:00 Uhr wieder auf.
Mit so wenig Schlaf (3,5 – 5,5 h) kommen die wenigsten Menschen in der heutigen Zeit aus.

Er nimmt „Fahrt“ auf, wenn du schnell zur Arbeit hetzt, um nicht zu spät zu einem wichtigen Termin zu kommen – aber du bleibst im Stau stecken.
Du verschüttest deinen Kaffee im Auto, weil du wütend ins Lenkrad beißt.
Der Termin ist geplatzt und das für die Firma so wichtige Geschäft auch. Dein Chef ist sauer und du bist angepisst, weil du dir die Gehaltserhöhung in die Haare schmieren kannst.
Du hattest aber mit dem Geld gerechnet, um den Kaufvertrag für dein Haus unter Dach und Fach zu bringen.
Am Nachmittag kommen dann auch noch deine Schwiegereltern zu Besuch, du willst vorher noch 1 Stunde laufen gehen und die Kinder müssen nach dem Wocheneinkauf auch noch abgeholt werden….
Ahhhhhh…STRESS lass nach!!!
Jetzt mal ganz ehrlich…wer soll nach so einem (oder ähnlichen) Tag noch ruhig und entspannt einschlafen?
Niemand!
Völlig unmöglich und total am Ziel vorbeigeschossen.
Dieses enorme Stresslevel kann einen ja auch gar nicht einschlafen lassen.
Der Grund sind Stresshormone, die vor dem Schlafengehen noch in so hoher Konzentration in deinem Körper zirkulieren, dass sie dich einfach nicht einschlafen lassen.
Das liegt wiederum daran, das Stresshormone wie z.B. Cortisol die Bildung deines Schlafhormons Melatonin verhindern.

Und falls du dann endlich irgendwann in den Schlaf gefunden haben solltest, wachst du mitten in der Nacht wieder auf. Tritt dies mindestens drei Mal in der Woche auf, haben sich Durchschlafprobleme eingeschlichen.
Kommt dir das irgendwie bekannt vor?
Da liegst du nun, schaust auf die Uhr und verfluchst die wenigen Stunden, bis der Wecker klingelt. Aber einschlafen kannst du einfach nicht.
Nun ist guter Rat teuer.
Dann kommt die Frage der Fragen:
Soll ich krampfhaft versuchen Schäfchen zu zählen oder doch lieber aufstehen, damit ich schnell wieder müde werde und einschlafen kann?
Durchschlafprobleme – Was soll ich tun?
Im Grunde genommen hast du nur 2 Möglichkeiten.
Entweder bleibst du liegen und hoffst, dass du wieder einschlafen kannst.
Oder du stehst auf und legst dich erst wieder ins Bett, wenn du müde bist.
Eine Regel, die du bei beiden Möglichkeiten unbedingt beachten solltest:
SCHAU AUF KEINEN FALL AUF DIE UHR – EGAL UNTER WELCHEN UMSTÄNDEN.
Kennst du die Uhrzeit, rechnest du dir automatisch aus, wie viel Zeit dir noch bis zum Klingeln des Weckers bleibt. Und das verursacht zusätzlichen Stress, den du nicht gebrauchen kannst.
Ich werde dir nun erklären, wann du welche Methode anwenden solltest.
Durchschlafprobleme Variante 1: AUFSTEHEN
Aufstehen solltest du immer dann, wenn du nach 20 – 30 min (gefühlt – nicht auf die Uhr schauen) nicht eingeschlafen bist.
Dein Bett ist nur zum Schlafen da – allein oder miteinander😊 Also ist nachdenken, arbeiten, Filme schauen, Social Media checken, essen usw. dort verboten.
In der Regel ist es so, dass dich deine Gedanken vom Widereinschlafen abhalten werden.
Aus diesem Grund ist es ratsam, sich eine Beschäftigung zu suchen, die monoton ist und die dich wieder müde werden lässt.
Deine Gedanken werden sich dabei beruhigen und dich nicht weiter vom Schlaf abhalten.
Hier sind einige Möglichkeiten, die dich wieder müde werden lassen:
- Lies entspannt ein Buch
- Höre ein Hörbuch
- Nutze eine geführte Meditation/Fantasiereise
- Bügle etwas Wäsche
- Schreibe deine Gedanken, Sorgen, Ängste usw. auf
- Schreibe ein Tagebuch
- Übe dich in autogenem Training
Wichtig hierbei ist, dass du dort, wo du dich aufhältst, kein gleißendes Licht anschaltest. Licht ist für deinen Körper das Hauptsignal, wach zu werden.
Nutze auf keinen Fall blaues Licht/LED-Licht vom Smartphone, TV, Laptop usw. Diese Art von Licht verhindert die Bildung von Melatonin – deinem Schlafhormon, das du zum Wiedereinschlafen brauchst.
Dimme das Licht oder zünde dir eine Kerze an.
Gehe erst wieder zurück ins Bett, wenn du dich müde fühlst.
Solltest du erneut nicht einschlafen können, stehe wieder auf.
Durchschlafprobleme Variante 2: LIEGEN BLEIBEN
Falls du dich dafür entscheiden solltest, nicht aufzustehen, weißt du nun, dass nachdenken oder sonstige Dinge, die mit Schlafen nichts zu tun haben, im Bett nicht erlaubt sind.
Du sagst jetzt sicherlich: Aber es sind ja gerade meine Gedanken, die mich vom Schlafen abhalten. Was soll ich denn nur dagegen machen?
Wenn es sich um Gedanken handelt, die sich immer wieder um ein Thema drehen und die du auch schon aufgeschrieben hast, bringt es absolut nichts, weiter darüber zu grübeln.
Denn durch Nachdenken kannst du dieses Thema im Bett auf keinen Fall aus der Welt schaffen.
Logisch, oder?
Dazu musst du ins Handeln kommen – und dafür ist der Tag da – wenn du ausgeschlafen bist.
Wenn du nicht über deinen Kopf in den Schlaf findest, ist die allerbeste und schnellste Variante, über deinen Körper zu gehen.
Und hier kann ich dir aus jahrelanger Erfahrung empfehlen, dich auf deinen Atem zu konzentrieren.
Dazu darfst du ausdrücklich im Bett liegenbleiben!
Hier die Kurzanleitung:
- Schließe deine Augen und lege beide Hände auf deinen Bauch, dabei liegst du auf dem Rücken.
- Atme tief durch die Nase ein und langsam und gleichmäßig durch den Mund wieder aus.
- Folge deinem Atem gedanklich vom Bauch, über die Lungen, den Hals bis in die Nasen- und Mundregion – und wieder zurück.
- Spüre dabei, wie sich dein Bauch langsam hebt und wieder senkt.
- Wenn du gedanklich abschweifen solltest, lenke deine Aufmerksamkeit wieder auf deinen Atem und deinen Atemfluss.
- Wiederhole diese Übung, bis sich deine Gedanken verflüchtigen und du einschläfst.
Je öfter du diese Übung wiederholst, desto mehr „trainierst“ du deinen „Aufmerksamkeitsmuskel“ und desto schneller beruhigen sich deine Stimmen im Kopf.
Welche Gefahren bestehen bei beiden Varianten?
Bei Variante 2 (liegen bleiben) bestehen keine Bedenken. Im Gegenteil.
Du trainierst in der schlaflosen Zeit, dich auf deinen Atem zu konzentrieren. Dein Gedankenwirrwarr wird so sehr verlangsamt, dass du einschläfst.
Diese Übung hilft auch bei Personen, die in Schichten arbeiten.
Je öfter du dies übst (auch tagsüber empfohlen), desto schneller wirst du nachts auch wieder einschlafen.
Bei Variante 1 (aufstehen) ist dies etwas anders.
Wenn du mehr als 3-mal in der Woche unter Durchschlafstörungen leidest und jedes Mal aufstehst, läufst du Gefahr, dass sich dein Körper und dein Geist an diesen Handlungsablauf gewöhnen.
Du studierst also mit der Zeit eine Routine ein.
Dein Unterbewusstsein speichert diese Handlung ab und lässt dich irgendwann automatisch zur selben Zeit wach werden.
Falls es nur phasenweise auftritt, ist das unproblematisch.
Sollte dies nächtlich und über einen längeren Zeitraum auftreten, wende die 1. Variante an und schau, was du tagsüber schon für deinen Schlaf machen kannst.

FAZIT
Durchschlafprobleme sind nichts Ungewöhnliches – bis zu 30-mal werden wir nachts wach. Wir erinnern uns nur nicht daran.
Falls die Wachphasen mehrere Minuten andauern, schaltet sich in der Regel auch dein Kopf mit all seinen wild umherschweifenden Gedanken mit an.
Du hast 2 Möglichkeiten, nach einer gewissen ruhigen Wachzeit in den Schlaf zurückzufinden:
Entweder du bleibst liegen und übst deine Aufmerksamkeit auf deinen Atemfluss zu richten.
Oder du stehst auf und suchst dir eine beruhigende und monotone Aufgabe, die dich entspannt und müde werden lässt.
Achtung: Wenn du mehrmals wöchentlich nachts aufstehst, kann sich eine Routine entwickeln – Körper und Geist gewöhnen sich unterbewusst an diesen Handlungsablauf.
ZUSATZTIPP
Was ist, wenn beide Varianten beim ersten Mal keine Wirkung zeigen sollten?
Mache dir bewusst, dass dich eine oder mehrere schlechte oder nicht durchgeschlafene Nächte nicht gleich umbringen werden.
Erlaube dir diese Phasen in deinem Leben – sie sind völlig normal und nichts, was dir Angst machen sollte.
Gestalte dir die Zeit ohne Schlaf so angenehm wie nur möglich.
Nutze die Zeit für Dinge, für die du tagsüber vielleicht keine Zeit hast – endlich kannst du etwas machen, was du dir schon lange vorgenommen hast.
